Foot massage

Foot massage has been practiced for centuries now in many cultures. In the broadest sense, it has been used to improve overall health and relax the whole body. Modern Foot massage is based on a combination of certain techniques borrowed from ancient methods, such as shiatsu and reflexology. Reflexology is known as a type of holistic therapy that helps to bring your body back to its natural balance by stimulating certain reflex points on the feet. These ancient methods are built on the fact that there are more than 7.000 nerves in the human foot, which are connected to the whole body. Therefore, we can consider the feet as some sort of body map. Reflexologists believe that all body systems are mirrored in the smaller areas on the hands and feet. Consequently, there is a reflex point on the feet for every part of the body. Many studies have proved that by applying the right kind of pressure on those points and stimulating them, a therapist can reach every part of the human body and its organs to promote good health and keep them in balance. So, with this type of massage, the effects are going way deeper than just the skin and the muscles. Of course, a Foot massage can easily help with any kind of problems that you may have with your feet- the pain after a long, tiring day, problems due to the flat feet, poor circulation, recovering from an injury, and so on. Here in Total Recovery, our trained therapists perform the Foot massage with their hands and certain tools on the massage table or on the ZeroBody floating bed, which makes this treatment even more enjoyable. The Foot massage cannot be performed on people who have inflamed and varicose veins, fungal or other foot infections, burns, and similar changes on the skin.
